The 16th release in the Woodford Reserve Master's Collection series, which has now taken on a new bottle shape and - in this case - the "Very Fine Rare Bourbon" label. This pays homage to Master Distiller Chris Morris and Assistant Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall and includes 17-year-old whiskey laid down in 2003, Morris' first year in the job. The very old barrels were then batched with younger stock to create this release. Nose: Layers of rich oak sweet aromatic notes, caramel, brown sugar, chocolate, vanilla merge into a cured tobacco character brightened with apple fruit. Palate: Very old oak notes sweetened with honey balanced by a touch of citrus and apple peel and a touch of clove spice. Finish: A long finish of raisin fruit and malty sweetness.
